Soccer Programs
At West-Mont United Soccer Association we have built a cohesive set of programs to give all children an opportunity to play no matter their skill level or desire. Our training programs build skills and expertise from the beginner levels to the highest.
Some general goals of our soccer programs are to:
- Run annual fund raisers in which all members participate.
- Provide a summertime, zero cost, low key, fun filled soccer activity for all players.
- Conduct one full-sided tournament per year to raise funds for the club and the training programs.
TOP Soccer
The Outreach Program for Soccer is the official US Youth Soccer program enriching the lives of young athletes with disabilities through the game of soccer. West-Mont United runs a TOP Soccer program in the Fall.
Little Strikers
This enjoyable program for 3 to 5 year olds gets the little tykes started early to get out and begin kicking the ball and having fun.
Intramural Program
Our Intramural Program is the lifeblood of the club. Children start here and grow their talents. Intramural soccer is a fun program for players ages 4 – 17. Teams are formed so that practices are close to home. Games are usually played at HillTop Farm, our beautiful, 37-acre facility at 560 Royersford Road in Limerick. Our intramural program has been in existence since 1976. We pride ourselves on being the best soccer program in the area. Our intramurals begin with a new program called Little Strikers for 3 and 4 year old preschool children. Then we have divisions for U4 co-ed, U5 co-ed, U6 girls and boys, U7 girls and boys, U8 girls and boys,U9 girls and boys, U10 girls and boys, U11 girls and boys, U12 girls and boys. All players receive a game shirt and matching socks.
The Intramural season ends with a tournament for the players. They play multiple games with elimination, until the championship game determines 1st and 2nd place winners who both go home with trophies. All other participants receive a participation award.
Suburban Counties Soccer League
This program is for the oldest group of our children, ages 13-17. Players are formed into coed teams in U14 and older age groups. The teams participate in the Suburban Counties Soccer League (SCSL), which is comprised of the Coventry, Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Phoenixville, and Boyertown clubs and possibly others. The games are on Saturdays, with week night practices. Teams travel to the various clubs to play (all are within 15-25 minutes), and half of the games are played at home.
Girls Travel Soccer Program and Boys Travel Soccer Program
The Travel Program is for the player who wants a more competitive level of play. Travel players come from the Intramural Program. Annual tryouts give children the opportunity to move up to this level. The Travel Program training prepares them for their Middle School and High School teams. Teams play against other competitive teams throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and sometimes more far reaching.
The goals of the Travel Program are to:
- Field at least one boy's team and one girl's team in each age group from U9 through U18.
- Present a consistent uniform package through the program.
- Develop working relationships with area high school and college coaches (ie. Perkiomen Valley, Spring-Ford, Ursinus, and others).
- Develop a consistent aproach to paid training and camps.
- Develop the players for higher levels of play such as high school, premier program, college.
- Train and promote players age 12 and older to become youth referees.
Premier Soccer Program
The Premier Program develops the player who has demonstrated the highest level of commitment and desire to progress in their game. Our premier teams play year-round, compete in State Cup tournaments, and work with professional, paid trainers or coaches. We offer the committed player the opportunity to compete at the highest levels of play. We prepare players technically and tactically to participate as members of high school, college, state, regional, and Olympic Development teams.
The goals of the Premier Program are to:
- Field at least one boy's team and one girl's team in each age group from U12 through U18, providing there is enough interest and talent available.
- Present a consistent uniform package through the program. The uniform package will be consistent within the Premier Program but different than Travel uniforms.
- Develop working relationships with area high school and college coaches (ie. Perkiomen Valley, Spring-Ford, Ursinus).
- Compete in indoor and outdoor state cup championships.
- Compete in regional and national tournaments.
- Develop a consistent approach to paid training and camps.
- Develop the players for higher levels of play such as high school, college, state, regional, premier, and ODP.
Travel and Premier Tryouts
Tryouts are conducted annually in the spring for Fall Travel and Premier teams. Tryouts are held for 3 or 4 dates for each age group. This gives the evaluators an opportunity to view the players in multiple types of situations in order to assess their readiness to play on a team and at what level.
Check out our tryouts page for more information.
The goals of the Tryouts Process are consistent with the goals of the Travel and Premier Programs.
- Field at least one travel level boy's team and one girl's team in each age group from U9 through U18.
- Field at least one premier level boy's team and one girl's team in each age group from U12 through U18. During the tryouts process, the evaluators assess the skill and commitment level of the players and parents to determine if there will be the ability to field a premier team in that age group. If there is not, the evaluator will notify the players and parents that the top level in that age group will be "A".
