WEST CHESTER , PA— The West-Mont ’08 United Boys soccer team used a five-goal second half to break a 2-2 deadlock and roll to a 7-2 victory over Penn Fusion Elite 2008 in the championship match of boys U11 championship bracket at the 30th Annual Penn Fusion/West Chester Summer Classic on Aug. 5 at Thornbury Park in West Chester.
Jamie Weir notched a second-half hat trick and Pedro Guimaraes added two second-half goals of his own to lead the way for ’08 United, which also saw Michael McGonagle and Dominic Robustelli find the back of the net in the first half.
West-Mont, which went 3-0 in group play and outscored its opponents, 17-6, advanced to the final after a 7-0 blanking of the Methacton Wolverines earlier in the day. ’08 United also picked up group play wins over Penn Fusion Elite (3-1) and the HMMS Eagles (7-4).
’09 Union Girls
The West-Mont United ’09 Union girls team went 4-0 in group play to win the U10 Championship bracket with wins over Penn Fusion Predators 2009 (3-1), Penn Fusion Lehigh Valley 2009 (7-1), Penn Fusion United 2009 (2-1) and Penn Fusion 2010 Pre-Academy (5-2).
’09 United Boys
The West-Mont ’09 United boys picked up a 4-0 win over Penn Fusion Elite on the back of a pair of doubles from Owen Bryant and Garrett Rhodes, respectively, to win the U10 boys Championship bracket. Goalkeeper Kyle Saysana picked up the championship-winning clean sheet for ’09 United.
West-Mont advanced to the final after going 2-1 in group play with wins over Lionville Galaxy (5-2) and Penn Fusion Predators (5-1) and a tournament-opening 5-4 loss to Penn Fusion Elite. Rhodes and David Marano led ’09 United on the weekend with four goals apiece.
’04 Premier Boys
The ’04 Premier Boys went 3-1 in group play to finish second in the U15 Championship bracket, scoring wins over Penn Fusion Predators 2004 (4-3), Reading Rage ’04 Bale (4-3) and Parkland Area SC United (4-1).
The ’04 Premier Boys’ lone loss came in a 3-2 setback to FC Europa ’04 Elite. Cam Henry, Danylo Czop, Noah Cain, Austin Chambers and Cam Jones each had a pair of goals for West-Mont on the weekend, while Alex Cochran, Noah Ricevuto and Adam Natoli each scored goals of their own.
